AccessMedicine provides medical students with a variety of resources needed to excel in basic science studies and clerkships. It is a comprehensive online medical resource that provides a complete spectrum of knowledge from the best minds in medicine, with essential information accessible anywhere. Included are 77 full text books – including Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, 6 Quick Reference Resources, Multimedia Videos, Cases and much more.

Academic Search Complete

Academic Search Complete offers a collection of the most valuable full-text journals, providing users access to critical information from many sources unique to this database. In addition, this database is the leading source of peer-reviewed, full-text for STM research, as well as for the Social Sciences and Humanities. This scholarly collection offers unmatched coverage of information spanning a broad range of important areas of academic study, including anthropology, engineering, law, sciences and more.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection is a comprehensive database covering topics in emotional and behavioral sciences, psychiatry and psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods. This is the world’s largest full text psychology database offering full coverage of nearly 400 journals.


In addition, Guyana, the largest island in the Caribbean invites students to explore its many activities and events. In one day, a student could visit the Guyana Botanical Gardens, roam the many pathways, romantic bridges and gazebos of this oasis in the morning, and then return to campus for a hands-on lab on exotic, wildlife species.

Students are captivated by the unique blend of the African, English and French cultures of Guyana. They can immerse themselves in Guyana’s rich history, dining at a local restaurant in the picturesque capital of St. George’s, as native music fills the air. Though many languages are spoken, English is the national language.

The Georgetown community has proudly embraced AAU and its students. Students and community members live at peace, with a mutual respect that is genuine and admired. In turn, AAU has become a vital contributor to the island financially and through humanitarian efforts. AAU is proud that its students, graduates and faculty are dedicated to improving the lives of both old and young on the Island.
